The Skytizens Advanced Trashcan addon simply obstructs users from the capability of permanently deleting files. Without the addon, when a user deletes a file, the file is moved to the user’s Alfresco trashcan. The user can then “empty” or permanently delete files in the trashcan by batch. If deleted by mistake, neither the user nor the administrator can recover the file.

With the Advanced Trashcan addon in place, administrators decide which users have access to the button to permanently delete files. For users who cannot delete, admin can do a final review of user trashcans and delete files manually. Users can remove and recover files to their Alfresco Document Library with confidence, knowing that they will not accidentally lose important company data.

Main Features

Integration with Trashcan – The addon integrates seamlessly with the Alfresco trashcan interface. Users without the permanent Delete button are not visually aware of the system constraint.

Location – Advanced Trashcan functions appear in each user’s Trashcan.

1. User can view their individual trashcan only
   • User’s trashcan has only the Recover button available.
2. Admin can view a community trashcan with all users’ deleted files.
   • Admin has both the Recover and Delete button available
   • Admin also has the ability to Empty the community trashcan with one click.

Permissions Control – The System Administrator sets who can permanently delete files in the Trashcan Manager area of Admin Tools. There are 3 settings.

1. Everyone has access to the Delete button.
2. Administrator only has access to the Delete button.
3. Administrator & Group Members – By admin designation, users who are part of a delegate group will have the same button as the Admin to delete files from the trashcan. This feature is fully compatible with native Alfresco access management by Group.

File Recovery – Move a file out of the trashcan back to the Document Library.

1. User can see the Recover button to move files out of the trashcan.
2. Admin can use the Recover button to restore files back to the original file owner’s Document Library.
